Electric Ivey Hunts Triple WSOP Bracelet Glory

It’s an incredible effort, which all started yesterday when he entered both the $2.5k PL HE/O and the $5k 6-handed NLHE events.
Switching between the two Ivey managed to stay in contention in both, making day two in each of them.
You would have thought Ivey would have had his hands full just with that, but the man has powers the rest of us can only dream of.
He decided that two simultaneous tournaments just didn’t cut it and entered the $10k Heads-Up Championship today as well!
It proved a smart move as he wasted no time dusting off “Player of the Year” candidate Mike Mizrachi in just two hands, 5-bet shipping A-J and getting there versus Mizrachi’s pocket nines.
With 72 left he’s amongst the chip leaders in the $5k 6-max whilst at present he is neglecting the $2.5K PLHE/O mixed event and has slipped to near the bottom of the chip rankings.
Can Ivey win three bracelets at the same time? We certainly wouldn’t bet against him.
What do you think?

Top 5 Online Players to Watch at WSOP 2010

5. Stephen “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer - MTC has been playing more and more live tournaments with no real huge score yet. Despite not getting that big breakthrough victory he has stacked over $600k in live winnings.
Final tables at the $5k NAPT Venetian main event, the $15k WPT Five Diamond and the $10k Heads-Up Championship at the ’09 WSOP have put O’Dwyer within sight of that big one but so far he’s fallen short.
I wouldn’t count on a player with his skill set being kept off the board too much longer. Look for him to put up a very impressive 2010 WSOP.
4. Dan “djk123″ Kelly – Known as Imabigkidnow on FTP, djk123 has over $1.2 million in Online tournament winnings in the past year alone, the biggest cash dollar wise being a fourth-place finish in the WCOOP Main Event for $643,200.
To give you an idea of his skills, Annette Obrestad was once asked who she would most hate to be out of position against. Dan Kelly was one of four names she mentioned.
If Dan can bring even a little of that success from the online tables to the Rio this summer than he’s sure to post some results.
3. Chris “Moorman1″ Moorman – One of the most consistent MTT grinders online Moorman1 won the PocketFives.com PLB award in 2009 and has won an estimated $4 million life time online.
Now, as a member of the DoylesRoom Brunson 10 Chris Moorman will be looking to play a full schedule at the WSOP and no doubt pick up more than his fair of cashes.
We made him a 2009 WSOP Best Bet and he didn’t exactly come through in the clutch. We’ve got faith, however. This is his year.
2. Steve “gboro780″ Gross – Another Brunson10 member Steve “gboro780″ Gross has been destroying online mtts for five years now and in that time has banked nearly $3 million in online earnings.
He’s currently leading the PocketFives leader board and is looking to continue that success come WSOP time.
1. Andrew “Luckychewy” Lichtenberger – No longer a sleeper pick after going super deep in the Main Event last year and most recently winning the Caesars Palace $5k Circuit event, LuckyChewy is one sick online player.
But, unlike the rest of this list, Luckychewy isn’t an MTT player online. He’s a high stakes cash game player, specializing in heads-up.
He’s proven that the skills he’s taken from those games transfers over to the live arena and, unlike most high stakes cash game players, luckychewy can get fired up to play tournaments.
It’ll be tough to top his last year’s performance of a 2nd in the $5k shootout and 18th in the main event but you can bet that luckychewy will try. He certainly has the skills to do it.

In my last post, I talked about how I was on to round 2 of the NBC Heads-Up Championship after I defeated Daniel Negreanu.
I faced Pieter De Korver in my next match and ended up beating him as well. I had the chiplead for almost the whole match and was winning probably 70-75% of hands, but when the blinds went from 600/1200 to 1k/2 we got it in for his 11 bb stack, him holding A10 vs my A9… 9 on the river, no big deal!
If I had lost this pot, we would have been back to even in chips with 20 bbs each.
In my next match, I faced Phil Laak. This match started out completely opposite to the match with Pieter. Laak crushed me in the beginning stages of the match beating me on almost every hand.

On to Round 2 of the NBC Heads-Up Championship

After my 3rd place finish at the High Roller event in LA, I knew I needed to make my way back to Las Vegas. I had an invitation to play in the NBC Heads Up Championship, how could I say no to that?
I came back that same night after the finish of the High Roller event. I rode back with a couple buddies crammed in their tiny 2 door car… I rode in the back seat!
We left around 2 am and arrived in Vegas around six. It was a miserable drive, but I was happy to finally get here.
I chilled out the first day I was here, just hanging with friends, drinking some beers and having a good time. The next day was the drawing party for the event. It was pretty cool, I was able to bring two of my good buddies, Andy and the one and only- Daniel O’Brien, and two of his friends as well.
We all had a great time there and I found out who I was matched up against, Daniel Negreanu.
He’s not exactly my first choice from the field, as there are plenty of much weaker opponents. However, I was not totally opposed to the thought of playing him as I knew there would be a good chance our match would be the featured one.
I have also played a lot against Daniel and feel like I have a good read on how he plays.
Our match did end up being on the featured table, and also the fastest one. I knocked him out of what I would guess to be around the 10th hand of the match.
I got all the money in on a board of J-3-3-2 holding QQ vs his 55 in a 3-bet pot. The structure of these matches are fairly fast paced, as they are made for TV.
Saturday, I will be playing Pieter De Korver in my first match. If I win this match, I will be in the money and down to the final 16. Hopefully I can win both matches tomorrow and be on the final day on Sunday when only 8 players are left.
First place in this tournament is a cool half million. Not bad eh?
