It’s hard to believe that a 4,345-person field can be seen as small but that number is actually down by 1,700 from the $1,000 NL event here at the WSOP last year.

We talked to WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky about the reason behind the drop.

The $50k Players Championship is shaping up like we all knew it would and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi is leading the field. His brother Robert is in the mix as well, along with 19 other big name pros. They’re playing down to a final table of nine this evening.

The $1,000 NL donkament drew a massive 4,345 and we’re updating it every step of the way. 475 players made it through the two Day 1 heats and they’ll continue to battle it out today.
