NAPT Venetian Day 1 and Video Blog Plans

Still have a few tales to tell from the road (Borgata, Biloxi, the WSOP-C Tunica final table, and the first couple Commerce prelims I played), but I wanted to get a quick update out there…

After flying from PCA back to NJ for Borgata, down to Biloxi for the WPT $10k, back to Borgata for the main event, down to Tunica for their WSOP-C event, back to Vegas to pick up my car, and driving to LA and back to Vegas last night (this is getting absurd), I played day one of the NAPT-Venetian main event today.

The tournament drew 872 players and first place is $827,648, which is why it made it worth driving back for and skipping the WPT Invitational even though it’s the first time I’ve been invited.

It was a bit rude of tournament organizers to schedule it right over some of the bigger events at the LA Poker Classic, though. That is why LAPC Tournament Director Matt Savage is a bit unhappy with the new North American Poker Tour…and rightfully so.

I started off my chipping up pretty well in the first couple levels, but lost a huge flip with Q-Q against A-K during the 150/300 and was down to 11k from the 30k starting stack. Fortunately I doubled back up with A-A against A-K and rebuilt my stack from there.

I have 38.5k going to 500/1000 tomorrow, which means there may be no Sunday Report this week…which is unfortunate since there are going to be so many especially huge Sunday donkaments tomorrow.

Also a bit of news before I go: I’ll be adding a couple video blogs to the mix every month starting pretty soon. Figured it would be fun throw in some videos from random locations to give my readers a better feel for life on the road. Should be fun.

That’s it for now. Time to rest up for day 2…
