Event #4: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha/8

Just 117 remain out of the 818 that entered Event #4 of the 2010 WSOP. They say that the cream rises to the top, and there’s a whole whack of cream sitting at the top of this leaderboard.

Last year’s $50k H.O.R.S.E. winner David Bach heads the field right now but with 2009 double-bracelet winner Brock Parker, 2007 double-bracelet winner Jeff Madsen, mercurial Irishman Andy Black and of course Mr Phil Ivey chasing his tail, he will be looking over his shoulder nervously.

Event #5: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em

In the $1.5k NLHE, online supergrinder/ semi-retired Sean Deeb leads the pack with 55k, but a surprising number of big names are poised right behind him.

Lauren Kling, Antonio Esfandiari, Joseph Cada, Eric Liu, Daniel Negreanu, Mark Seif, Scott Seiver and Shannon Shorr are all ready to make Deeb’s life hell if they can gain parity.

We’re pretty excited at seeing if this tournament lives up to its undoubted potential.

WSOP Live!

We’re putting together a fat daily show every single day of the WSOP. Yesterday we got Phil Hellmuth, Joe Cada, Gavin Griffin, The Maven, Adam Levi, Antonio Esfandiari, Allan Bari, Neil Channing, Erica Schoenberg and plenty more big name poker pros. Seriously the best daily show coming out of the WSOP.

All the WSOP News that’s Fit to Print

It’s hard to believe that a 4,345-person field can be seen as small but that number is actually down by 1,700 from the $1,000 NL event here at the WSOP last year.

We talked to WSOP Communications Director Seth Palansky about the reason behind the drop.

Live Coverage: See the Action as it Happens

We’ve got our live update machine running at high gear and right now it’s pointed at two events.

The $50k Players Championship is shaping up like we all knew it would and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi is leading the field. His brother Robert is in the mix as well, along with 19 other big name pros. They’re playing down to a final table of nine this evening.

The $1,000 NL donkament drew a massive 4,345 and we’re updating it every step of the way. 475 players made it through the two Day 1 heats and they’ll continue to battle it out today.
